The Kansas Board of EMS recently adopted "EMT-Basic Advanced Initiatives" by KAR 109-6-4 that allows EMT's, with appropriate physician oversight, by either on-line medical control or written protocol to perform the above activities.  In order for EMT's certified before February 01, 2004 to perform these skills, the EMT must complete a course of instruction in each of the above areas.  Upon completion of training and submission of the course roster to the Board of EMS, documentation will be placed in the file of each attendant with the above capabilities.  The Board will not issue certificates or cards indicating that the attendants have been trained, but will keep documentation in the attendant file held at the Board of EMS

Continuing education hours (CEU) will be awarded on an hour for hour basis.  All attendants are welcome to attend for CEU.  The training will consist of didactic and practical training with examination in accordance with the curriculum developed by the Kansas Board of EMS.  Testing is a required part of the training to demonstrate proficiency in the aforementioned skills.  All participants, including those attending for CEU will be required to complete testing to qualify for hours.  Training is free of charge to all participants.  Please contact us at 620-244-3852 and RSVP if you plan to attend.  Class size is not limited.
